The person who sends five perfect applications and hears nothing hasn't failed five times. They've accumulated 5% of the signal strength needed to cross the detection threshold. They gave up while still invisible.
Why Single Actions Feel Significant
The confusion arises because our intuition appears to be calibrated for environments where single actions often produced direct effects. Push a rock, it moves. Light a fire, warmth appears.
